Is there a way to change the default colors of Windows?

I want other colors aside from just the default blue, green, and silver. I
would like to try red and other colors. I don't really want to change the XP
theme itself, just the colors.

Been there, done that. It doesn't help with what I want to do.
Anyone know if there is some kind of plugin or something that can be
installed on my computer that can change the default XP colors?

This was from Wesley Vogel MVP does this help?

Application Background...
The background color of applications like MS Word with Word open and no
document open. Color 1 is the background color.

Window...
Color 1 is the background color and Color 2 is the font color. This will
affect such applications as Notepad, WordPad and MS Word. Among other
things, it affects the Run box and the background for radio buttons in
Folder Options, for example.

For Window...
Right click Desktop | Properties | Appearance tab | Advanced button | Left
click the white area where it says Windows Text | This will select Window
under Item | Color 1 is background | Click the V on Color 1 to expand the
Color 1 menu | Click a color | You can preview before you hit the Apply
button, the white background will change to whatever color you select |
OK your way out

Or do this.
Right click Desktop | Properties | Appearance tab |
Advanced button | Under Item: click the V to expand the menu |
Scroll down and select Window | For background select Color 1 |
Click the V on Color 1 to expand the Color 1 menu | Click a color | You can
preview before you hit the Apply button, the white background will change to
whatever color you select | OK your way out

For Application Background...
Right click Desktop | Properties | Appearance tab |
Advanced button | Under Item: click the V to expand the menu |
Select Application Background | For background select Color 1 |
Click the V on Color 1 to expand the Color 1 menu | Click a color |
No preview available for Application Background | OK your way out

CBoom

you have 2 options:

1) buy windowblinds from stardock (19 us dollars I believe)

2) patch windows with the unofficial uxtheme patcher that you can find here
http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/UXTheme-MultiPatcher-Download-2369.html

select a MIRROR to download

Make a restore point with system restore before you install this, just in
case

follow instructions CAREFULLY while installing it tells you to WAIT unitl
windows pops up a warning

then go download a theme from here

http://browse.deviantart.com/customization/skins/windows/visualstyle/?order=9

note : on the bottom of this page there is a next page link, since there are
hundreds of themes... keep clicking on next page to see more

you must select a theme for xp, because now there are some only for vista.
