in a table? When I use the command to insert a table, the default is/are
very skinny rows. I have to click in each row to enlarge the size of it. Is
there a command to size the rows, still keeping them equidistant, that is
available in Word 2000?

Select all the rows of the table. Click Table > Table Properties > Rows.
Check the box for "Specify height" and enter the size you want. If you leave
the "At least" setting, any row will expand if you enter more text than will
fit in the size you set; if you change that to "Exactly" then the row won't
expand and the extra text will disappear below the bottom border.
