Is there a utility to monitor internal temps, (cpu, hd's, case environment) built into XP Pro?

Hi,

just wondering if there was something built in to XP Pro that would allow me
to check cpu temp, fan speeds, etc. without shutting down and going into the
BIOS?

thanx,

Not built into XP, AFAIK. However, have you checked the website of the
motherboard manufacturer?

Also, google things like "motherboard monitor" and "CPU Temperature
monitoring" and you'll find a few sources.

Thanks!

this helps.

Indicates my HD's are running hot, (122°) which I believe. I just installed
case fans to try to bring it down, though I didn't have a reading before
installing, so don't know how much it has helped, if at all. Seems like
normal should be about 110° or so, but my memory might be faulty.
(understatement).. :)

I suppose I could shut them off and see how much it goes up.

not sure how accurate this prog is.. voltages don't seem to be too accurate,
so hard to fully trust the rest of it.

It's a start anyway, thanks again for the info.

Most "Recent" drives have a thermal limit of 130 Degrees F.
Super-Size drives with multiple platters and higher rotational
speeds will run warm. However, newer drives also have much
larger Cache Memory so drives can spin down more often.
