Is there a template for use in a (personal) library? A catalogue/.

I am looking for a template to catalogue the books in my personal library. Is
there a template for that purpose out there?
Best regards

Dear Roger:

I'm looking at your Books database, and I see a number of things that I
want to study and possibly use in my own little library database. Thanks for
making it available! Forgive me if I'm being dense, but I wonder if you'd
mind explaining the "Sequence" field, and how it is used. I'm confused about
that field...

By the way, I laughed at your comment about "A midsummer night's dream", by
the way. I've heard comments like that from my English students frequently!
(Actually, they are usually far more expressive...<g>)

Thanks!

Dear LSR:

Jeff has mentioned my library application (thanks, Jeff!), and I'd be happy
to answer questions if you take a look at it, and if you have any! It is
meant to manage a small library and has circulation and maintenance modules,
and an online catalogue. You may find, however, that it is a bit more
involved than you need. I suggest you be sure to look at Roger Carlson's
database, as suggested in an earlier post... it looks like it might be just
what you need...

Good luck!

Don't get me wrong. While I'm not much on the Shakespeare tragdies, I
*love* the comedies. And my favorite is "Midsummer". The most amazing
thing about all of Shakespeare'z plays is that after more that 400 years,
they are NOT dated.

Anyway, Sequence:

The field is used to created an artificial sequence if needed. This is most
useful with Reference Tables (I don't like calling them LookUp tables) that
are used to fill combo boxes. Often users want the values in an order other
than alphabetic or order entered. If a user wanted Clancy to always be at
the top, they can use the Sequence field to do that.

In fact, Sequence is *not* implemented on the main form (though it would be
easy to do so, just add a Where clause), but it IS implemented in the
Maintain Author Information form. If you give the authors in this form a
sequence different than alphabetic, the next time you open the form they
will appear in that order.

BTW, I'm honored that there are ideas here you think you can use.

Dear Roger:
"...honored that there are ideas here you think you can use.."

ROFLOL... In your best Tweety Bird voice, I want you to say "He don't know
me wery well, do he?" <g> Roger, I'm just an amateur... a dilettante, if you
will. You do me too much credit! I've never earned a penny for working with
databases, and I never will, and you are a professional! I *have* created a
library application (with endless help!), and I *am* proud of it - but I am
certain you've forgotten more about Access than I will ever know! :)

Ah, I'm glad to hear that you don't *really* find Shakespeare dated... :)
Maybe I'll have you try to convince my students next time I have to teach
Shakespeare!

Thanks for explaining about the use of the sequence field... And, BTW, I've
frequently used *your* samples as learning tools!

Best wishes!
Fred

Actually, I am immensely honored when *anyone* finds my samples useful.

As for Shakespeare: How many movies have been made recently with the
original Shakespeare dialog? The settings may have been updated, even
modern, but after more than 400 years, the stories -- the words
themselves -- have the same power to make us laugh and cry. In a culture
that makes last month's blockbuster this month's old-news, this is
astounding.
