I have an IBM laptop running Windows 2000 and I am
wondering if there is a version of Scandisk that I can use
to check the physical disk itself and mark bad sectors as
such so they are not used. Is there anything out there
that can do that?

Thanks.

In a CMD box, type chkdsk /? .

Open up windows explorer
right click drive on drive
properties
tools tab
check now button

You may have to schedule and reboot if it can't have
exclusive access to drive.
