my girlfriend swears that there was a Mah Jongg game bundled in with an
earlier version of windows (she thinks win98 but isnt sure). she says that
she loved that version but now that she has upgraded to XP home, the mah
jongg is gone. I dont recall such a game on win95 or 98, but then again i
dont play mah jongg so i wouldnt have been looking for it. any ideas on
whether there is/was such a bundled windows program and more importantly, any
help/advice on getting it back or getting her a free simple made for windows
mah jongg game?

As I recall it was an add-on availble from MS, probably in the Plus!
pack for Windows, not included by default. She may have had a
pre-installed OS that included the Plus! pack.

Thanks.

do you know if there is any way to download that specific program or the
plus! packet so I can get that specific version of mah jongg for her?

No I don't, sorry, and MS Plus! for XP doesn't appear to include it.

There are a lot of them out there for download, though. The only thing I
can suggest is try them out until you find one that is close to the
version she's used to.

Taipei was included in some of the add-on "entertainment packs" for earlier
versions of Windows.
