is there a limit to the size of an access program

my program is now 19,528 kbs I have been told it will start crashing at 20,000

Whoever told you that obviously know nothing at all about Access. I am
currently working on a back-end that's almost 10 times that size and hasn't
crashed yet. The "official" limit is 2GB, but I'd start looking after 500MB.

BTW, make sure that you are compacting regularly. Typically, you can recover
as much as a third of the size.

Specification + Access Specifications + Access database

Microsoft Access database (.mdb) file size
2 gigabytes minus the space needed for system objects.

For Access 97 it's 1 gigabyte.
