Is there a bug in the automatic calculation setting?

I have followed the directions to put Excel on automatic calculation, yet
when I toggle between numbers for a cell nothing happens until I hit
calculate. Also I cannot get rid of the "calculate" box on the bottom.

Have a look at the 'Calculate in Status bar' page to see if one of the
condtions applies to you.

Thank you ... that fixed it - I had a circular reference issue! Please note
the below changes in Office 2007 to make tool option changes:

In earlier versions of Microsoft Office, you could set your preferences for
specific view, display, and editing settings in the Options dialog box (Tools
menu, Options command). As part of the Microsoft Office Fluent user interface
in the following 2007 Microsoft Office system programs: Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and Access, the Options command on the Tools menu has been moved
so that it is under Word Options, Excel Options, PowerPoint Options, or
Access Options after you click the Microsoft Office Button .

Also, the link in the automated message generator sent to my e-mail in box
did not work. When clicked on it took me nowhere -- actually to an incorrect
internet address. I had to manually correct the address by copying the
address of site it was suppose to be taking me to.
