Is my Windows XP cd corrupted

Running Windows XP, 256 Ram (should be 512 but the add'l ram I have the
computer fixit place install isn't working), 1 g processor, 20g HD with 20g
slave.

I recently tried to install Linksys wireless G router and usb adapter. Had
many problems with it. Also got numerous (87) registry errors, many having
to do with uninstall files. I reformated my C drive and reinstalled Win XP
and all files EXCEPT the Linksys stuff. I am still getting numerous registry
errors. Is the problem in the win xp disc? Another program? Suggestions on
what I should do with this system other than dropkick it into the lake behind
my house????

Thanx, Paula

1st and foremost...........find a new computer repair shop.
Any shop that installs RAM that does not work does not deserve anybodys
business, they should have tested it before it left the shop.Have you
notified them about the RAM problem??
Open you computer( If you feel comfortable) and check to see if the RAM is
seated properly..dont forget to shut the power off.You just need to give a
slight push with one finger and check the end clips to see if they are down.
Then check your BIOS to see if the RAM is recognized in there. We have no
idea about your system so these are "generic" instructions.

I assume you have programs on the 2nd HD as well as work files??
I suggest you save whatever you need to save.....make sure you have the
original programs that you use.
Then format both drives.
Install XP fresh onto the C drive
Install the MOBO drivers that should have come with the computer
install the video then the audio drivers. and also any other drivers that
your system might need....???
Check to make sure XP is functioning before you reinstall all of your
programs.

.....As to the Linksys Router; I had to call Linksys Support for help with
mine.. The CD did not work as advertised and I couldn't get it setup at all.
Tech Support with Linksys (Cisco owned) is, from my experience withthem is
very good. They walked me thru many troubleshooting steps and all the time
knew where they were going; the Router worked fine when I hung-up the
phone... The setup can be tricky, it is NOT straight forward as you might
imagine..... Call them.
