Is my DVD drive dead or dying?

For a few days now I have had a problem with my dvd drive. It cannot read
certain cd-roms, cant play music cd's when it did previously and I cant burn
cd\dvd's. I have tried a cleaning disk without success and I have also tried
looking for some diagnostic software off the net but have been unable to find
some. So my question is to the group is it time for me to replace my drive?
