~ ..is MS EVER going to sort that tilde out...

R

RJK

I loaded my OE address book, and deleted lots of emails that I didn't really
want in there, (...don't want to switch off the "Automatically add addresses
of people that I reply to!), and now I've got that damned tilde icon on the
desktop again !

Richard,

The tilde (~) is a result of this patch:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/330994/default.asp

The file is created when certain changes are made to your address book and this is a minor [non-fatal] bug. No workaround for this problem yet till MS releases an update.

Probably in 2006, and you'll need new hardware to run MS's newest piece
of sh*t OS.

....:) ..didn't think of that ! ...i.e. I looked into it ages ago - to
make sure that it wouldn't take anything with it, should I delete it, and
forgot what I found out ages ago ...I'll have to rethink my "notes"
procedures. Why do I keep categorizing and sorting my Favourites and saving
hundreds of replies to posts in here, and why do I have loads of web pages
"saved complete" when I hardly ever refer to them again ? ...was that my
brain just imploded ...or the system box ...

If that were all that was involved it wouldn't be so bad. The ~ file gets
created in all sorts of folders on my system. I haven't had one on the
desktop for quite some time in fact.

Bad week eh, Kurt?

Naw! Just been a very busy week. And MS has had plenty of time to deal
with the ~ file glitch, that I really doubt they really have any plans to
fix it, after all this time.
TGIF bro!

Definitely. Same to you.
