Is Media Center Edition a true XP product?

I have ordered a new dual core PC with Windows XP Media Center Edition
pre-loaded. I cannot determine whether this OS acts as a full Windows XP
system. E.g. on readaing up on disk paritioning (Partition Magic) it says
supported OSs as Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional (so not Media
Center). Also, I have a wireless home network runnng 2 PCs, one on Win2000,
one on Win XP Home. The Win2000 one will be replaced by the new one, running
Media Center. Can I add this new PC into my WL home n/w?

Any restrictions on Media Center Edition that I should know about. Would it
be better to install Win XP Home or Prof?

Windows XP Media Center Edition is Windows XP with the addition of some home
entertainment features.

Hi Henk,

WinMCE is a superset of WinXP Pro minus a few things not needed in a home
environment, like the ability to connect to a domain. So, yes you can
connect it to your home network and get right on it, it is a full version of
XP with additional media functions.

WinXP Media Center Edition is a _superset_ (iow, it does
_everything_ WinXP Pro can do (except join a domain), plus contains
additional multi-media features) of WinXP Pro.
