Is Java Virtual Machine Really needed?

Well for instance i do have the Sun VM, but I use Gamespy Arcade to cha
with people and whenever I oepn certain websites from witihn it the V
causes it to close, many people are telling me that i dont need
virtual machine, but i just want to make sure. Maybe it is just Sun V
that causes it to shut down, If you think the MSVM wont do that doe
anyone know where I can get it
