is it worth investing in better software

I asked this yesterday but it failed to display. I know MM is a free piece
of software, and is very good for what it is. But recently I did a large
project (up to 200 clips) with loads of titles, transistions, mixed
sound/music/narration. The picture was preserved well, but there were sound
problems when I did things like reducing volume of clip. There was often a
PPHHHTTTT noise at one or both ends of the clip. No way to remove it. If I
bought better software like Premiere would it be better for productions of a
more professional standard? I do not want to pay money just for better
facilities, I am interested in picture and sound quality retention. Any
advice? THANKS

Certainly it would be better for a more professional standard.
Movie Maker is basically an entry level program with some great features but
the fact is you get what you pay for. Premiere is great software, harder to
use than Movie Maker, but with excellent results.
So it is a matter of whether you are confident in your ability to master a
higher end piece of software; and it sounds like you are. I still use Movie
Maker but I either work my projects in sections in Movie Maker or I use
other programs and put it together at the end with Movie Maker. Then
sometimes I only do little pieces in MM and put it together with other stuff
in Nero. Depends on what I am doing at the time.

Have a look at Premiere Elements which has much of the funcionality of
Premiere but much cheaper.

Thank you to BOTH of these kind helpful reply. But will it (specifically)
not give me the audio problems (or at least less of them) than Movie Maker
does. That will be my main reason for investing. thanks
