is it working?

I have the beta version of M/soft antispyware on my XP
Pro SP2 pc - as does the wife on her win2k laptop.

I've never had any messages from it nor has it ever found
anything, but the wife is always getting messages about
what the anti- spyware has allowed and asking her if she
wants to allow different actions.

Doesn't it like me?

This is a normal response, but if you could give a more detailed explanation
of some of the messages its asking to allow or make changes to. I would
recommend her to runn a full system scan in safe mode. On the Scan Page
choose Scan Options > Full System scan.

Start your pc in safe mode:

windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx

The messages on my wifes laptop relate to changes in home
page (that she has made) or after program
installations/updates - she has done scans (with ada-awre
as well) and never found anything amjor

Tell her to go to Advanced Tools in MS AntiSpyware > Browser Hijack > under
Restore Internet Explorer Browser Settings, select Start Page, in the right
hand pane under "Details", click "Change restore setting to a new URL..."
type in the desired URL and press OK.

Sorry there seems to be some misunderstanding here, all
I'm trying to establish is why the package on my wife's
machine seems to be working fine but on my machine I
don't get any system messages at all (and on both
machines no spyware has ever been found by this package
whilst other programs find some - and yes I know that
some packages look in different place but maybe this
microsoft package isn't looking in the right place?)

I have the same concern as Tom. I do not feel MSAS is
doing anything on my box. I have had it running for a
month and everytime I scan using Adaware or Search and
Destroy they find malicious items. Am i doing something
wrong?

Hi

No and you are protected !

I can find tracking cookies with Adaware but MSAS
don´t search for cookies in Beta 1.

So this is OK.

Whilst I applaud anyone for supplying a free tool to rid
us of crud - its difficult to have confidence in it when
you have been using it for months, its never found
anything and apart from an icon in the taskbar you
wouldn't know its there.

Yet every other antispyware program (also free) is
highlighting problems. I think its been out long enough
for it to be looking in all the right areas or when its
fully launched nobody will have confidence in it.
