Is it possible to transfer my installed O/S in drive h: to drive c

Hi,

can i possibly tansfer the O/S installed in my pc from drive h: to drive c:

I don't know why my O/S went into drvie h:

I used a window xp pro with a two hard-drive disk.

Did you have a ZIP drive (internal or external) or and external hard disk
drive plugged in when installing?
That would cause that.

As for moving your install - not easily/reliably - nor with any confidence
what-so-ever actually.
If it is fresh enough - it would be easier (and better for you in the long
run) to disconnect all devices other than the hard drive you want to install
on and the CD drive and install Windows XP again before reconnecting all the
other items.

Where do these so called mvps get thier info from,certainly not
microsoft......
Its a simple job to do as you want.Set drive with xp as master on IDE
chain,set
drive you want to be xp as slave.In xp,format the slave drive with a primary
partition,once thru,go to run,type:XCOPY C:\*.* D:\ /c/h/e/k/r Once the DOS
window starts,agree to all.When the DOS window ends,youre done,shutoff comp-
uter,set new drive as master(configure jumpers,configure it in BIOS if
needed),
formatt old C:.Also,D: being slave,but if asigned diffrent letter,then use
that....
Works every time in XP,unless you run SATA or RAID.

Won't work.
Too many things may be in the registry pointing to "H"..
Not to mention that just setting a drive to master doesn't make it bootable.

Sorry Andrew. Just won't work. I do suggest you (Andrew) try it though.
When it doesn't work - just keep trying.

I had the same problem when I replaced my hard drive. The system/Window files
are on my new drive but it got label "G:". Is there a problem with my master
drive labeled as "G"? I do not care if the letter is G instead of C but I
just wanted to know if I will run in to problems later.

It is possible that you will run into application that were badly written
and reference C:\ directly - yes.
