Is it possible to set specific text boxes so that they do not prin

I would like to set up a word document template to show the layout of a piece
of headed notepaper with graphics running down the right side.

It would be there as a guide to show where best to place the text of a letter.

With the real headed notepaper being fed into the printer, I do not want my
"guide" headed notepaper with graphics to print.
But I would like the text that had been entered to print.

Is this possible ?

You can't tell Word not to print *specific* text boxes. You can suppress
printing of *all* text boxes by clearing the check box for "Drawings" on the
Print tab of Tools | Options. But this will affect all objects in the
drawing layer. If you have other text boxes you want to print, you could
convert them to frames. But text boxes that don't print won't take up space,
so if you've wrapped text around them, you'll have a problem. Better to
format the text box contents as Hidden.

I routinely use such text boxes. Set them up to have no borders. Format the
text in the text box as "hidden." I usually also format the text to be a
different font and color. Make sure display of hidden text is turned on and
printing of hidden text is turned off.
