Is it possible to move a Digital Certificate to another PC?

Derek

I am using the SelfCert program to create a code signing
Digital Certificate. I need to be able to use this
certificate on 2 PCs. Is there anyway to copy this so it
will work on both PCs? I tried exporting and importing,
but when I try to save the file on the other PC, I get a
message that the signature is invalid and is being
discarded.

This was also cross posted with the Word VBA General forum.

Hi Derek,

If you're using Windows 2000 or XP, you should be able to do this through
the Microsoft Management Console. From the Run dialog, type MMC and click
OK. Select File | Add/Remove Snap-in, then click the Add button. Select
Certificates and click the Add button. Select "My User Account", click
Finish, then Close, then OK. You should be back at the Console Root now.
Expand Certificates - Current User, Expand Personal, and click the
Certificates folder. You should see your certificate in the right-hand pane
now. Right-click it, select All Tasks --> Export, and follow the wizard.
If you want to export the private key also, make sure you protect it with a
password.

Derek,

Your certificate may be in a different branch, so if you don't see it under
Personal, try Trusted Root Certificate Authorities or others. You can
right-click the main node (Certificates - Current User) and select Find
Certificate if you want to search for it.
