Is it necessary to close the Systray Icons

Hi All, Before shutting down the computer (WinXP Pro SP2) is it necessary to
close the system tray icons?

No. It is not necessary to close any applications. Although you
*can* close whatever is open, if you don't, the shutdown process
does it for you.

There's no need to close the standard Windows XP icons (volume
control, network connections, etc).
