Is ghost OK for dis. rec.?

I would like to use Ghost Ent to backup my servers to DVD?
Is this a good method? What is the best and most
reliable way to get a safe recoverable image backup of a
system?

As long as you have multiple DCs this should be ok. You really don't have
to use Ghost, a Windows backup image IS restorable. If this machine is the
sole DC, just keep in mind things could be strange after a restore as
there's nothing for it to sync to.

NOT if you are using RAID. Enterprise Ghost does not support RAID.

So, I should use Windows backup? I have only one DC, but
I thought windows backup did not backup registry files
and other files that are in use. Am I wrong?
I miss VMS...(Showing my age a little there...)
Can windows backup write to a DVD?

Arcserve and a good tape drive. I suggest AIT2 or DLT. The problem with DVD is the limited
capacity. The AIT2 is capable of 100GB. LaCie offers AIT2 in USB2, FireWire and wide SCSI
interfaces.

Do a full backup using the built in NT backup and be sure to include the System
State. You should be regularly be backing up the System State as that is where
critical registry settings and the AD database is located. --- Steve
