Is database replication a solution ?

Tom

There is an Access 2000 application developed by a
contractor. He gives us a MDE file.

When we install the application in a remote site, we find
that the performance is not good.

We would like to know is "Database Replication" a solution
to our situation ? If not, is there any other suggestion ?

Can we just set up Database Replication and ask uses to
synchronize OR it involves programming work like "creating
replicas" / "synchronzing replicas" / "processing partial
replicas" which have to be incorporated to the
contractor's application ?

Thanks

There is probably not enough info here to offer an acceptable answer.

you might want to state how this mde from the contractor is used.
say,
is it a front end / back end app?
is the back end an Access database?
when you say a remote site, does that mean that the back end (the data) is
across a WAN?

however,
I wouldn't think replication would be the optimum solution here....

If you want some good information on replication, visit
http://www.trigeminal.com. Michael Kaplan knows his stuff. It works very
well, but, IMNSHO, is not for the faint of heart, however.

Give us some particulars of "install it at a remote site" and perhaps
someone can make suggestions on how to improve the performance. Such things
as: how are you using it, how is it set up with front-end / back-end, across
a WAN (what speed?), across a LAN (what speed?)...
