CUTEPDF is a wonderful new PDF printer, I note the program tries to
logs onto 127.0.0.1 before it can save the file on my PC successfuly,
what information is it sending, Could it be spyware?

127.0.0.1 is your PC
This should not be a problem.

127.0.0.1 is you. Well the machine you are running CutePDF on, anyway. If
it logs on to anywhere else, I'd worry.

Guess that depends on what you mean by "logs". What port? 127.0.0.1 is your
machine. If you have a local filtering proxy, like Proxomitron, then traffic to
port 80 on 127.0.0.1 can go out through the proxy.

I read somewhere in the last couple of days that CuteFTP is spyware, so if
this is by the same people you might want to check that out -

They're made by two completely different companies.

If CutePDF is made by a separate company from CuteFTP, they'd better think
long and hard about changing their name. I immediately thought of CuteFTP
when I read the subject.

Jim,

I noticed your site lists crippleware AdShield, freeware v1.2 is still
available.

http://www.fsd1.org/technology/download.asp
Scroll down to the AdShield link.
Here as well:
http://ftp.ural.ru/home/index/windows/networking/utils/AdShield

Unfortunately, from AdShield's license agreement:

You may not:
....
- place the Software onto a server so that it is accessible via a pubic
network such as the Internet.
....

I host an earlier, non-Adware version of UltimateZip on my site because it
doesn't violate their license agreement. The sites you mention aren't
exactly official download locations.
