Hi Aaron,

I've only been reading messages for a few days on this group, and I
have to say: you are the most negative, obnoxious person I have ever
seen participate (if you can call it that) in a discussion group.

If you dislike Access/Jet so much why don't you just go away. You are
not really helping anyone with your childish repetitions.

I also just checked with two of the most active SQL newsgroups, and
you do not have anything at all posted there for the few days I
checked. Why is that?

Best regards,

- Tom

I don't need to save the SQL Server people. They've already woken up
to the 90s and realized that Jet is ****ing stupid as is anyone that
uses it for anything.

SQL Server won the war.

Access isn't even supported on Server 2008 without a special driver.
So, in other words-- it's easier to get mySQL workign on Windows
Server 2008 than it is _JET_.

What a waste.

You guys are just like the foxPro dipshits, that thought that foxPro
would be around forever.

Do you really think that Microsoft likes Jet?
If they liked Jet, they wouldn't have removed ULS and Replication from
Access 2007 (format).

In other words, if you want multiple sites, or _ANY_ data
portability.. or _ANY_ level of security-- you need to move to SQL
Server.

Sorry that you don't think that I'm polite.
I for one-- am sick and ****ing tired of the dipshits in this group
that purposefully give misinformation about SQL Server.

I thought I'd try just once to appeal to reason, but I can see that
was a wasted thought. I guess it's best just to ignore him.

You'd have to reply to every post he makes, boy.

Mr. Kowalski, but you can call me Walt, boy - I kinda like your style.

Why would anyone want to learn Oracle?

If you knew as much about cars as you do about databases, you still wouldn't
be able to tell a hubcap from a hood ornament.

That's Mr. Kowalski to you, sonny, I don't like your style at all

Actually, Access/Jet outsells all other databases, and is used in more
applications than any other database engine, including Oracle. You are
correct that Oracle outsells SQL-Server, but SQL-Server is making quick
strides. It is a far better database than Oracle, IMO, and is far easier to
use. I agree, why would anyone want to learn Oracle, when SQL-Server is a
better engine.

Contrary to Aaron's assertations, many of us have much more experience in
SQL-Server than he does. I know that Tony has built solutions in SQL-Server.
I have been working in it since 1997 (SQL 6.0). Other Access MVPs even
longer. I think Aaron may have been in high school back then.

Arvin;

Uh-- your 'FACTS' are incorrect, and you need to stop wearing the
blinders.

Jet is ****ign crap and anyone that uses it is ****ing stupid.

You guys don't know shit about SQL Server-- I've been using it every
day for a decade, full time writing very large, very complex and very
professional databases.
None of those are possible using Jet.

If you've been using SQL Server, you would have some basic knowledge
of ADP, because ADP is the best choice for using Access against SQL
Server.
Maybe you should stop drinking the Jet kool-aid kid.

Just because you read a book on SQL Server 12 years ago, that doesn't
give you any credibility.

And no, I wasn't in high school back then; Nice Try!

I _DID_ start with Access back then.. and I graduated to SQL Server,
because it gives a much better development environment.

TSQL just flat out conquers Jet.

There's no comparison.
Jet / linked tables-- provides _ZERO_ benefit over Access Data
Projects.

And Tony claims that multiple developers cannot edit queries using
ADP.

That is just another symptom that you guys don't know what the ****
you're talking about.

You guys frequently give misinformation about SQL Server, as I am the
only one around here that _EARNED_ a certification-- I don't need to
take any lip from you, script-kiddie.

Perhaps you need a better sources. Your numbers are for Microsoft's increase
over their previous numbers. First of all, desktop databases are not
included, and they overwhelm the total numbers of all of the rest of them,
but here are the numbers for server based engines:

http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9025203

as you can see, Oracle is an undisputed #1 with over a 47% total market
share, IBM is #2 with 21%, and SQL-Server #3 with 17.4%

Since SQL-Server only runs on Windows servers, it is unlikely that it will
outpace the growth of other databases which also run on Linux/Unix. That
doesn't make it unlikely to win top choice eventually, but it won't get
there in the near future.

Access has an installed base larger than all of these put together.

In unit shipments, Microsoft SQL Server increased its market share to
41.1%, up
from 37.7% in the previous year. Oracle followed in second place, with
29.0% of
units shipped, consistent with the previous year's 28.7%.
