One solution is to turn down or off the hardware acceleration <sp> on your
video card, and/or update your video drivers.
 
I had this problem once, it was a power supply issue (not enough juice) and
happened during boot when all of my pci cards are initialised. I was lucky
as removing and re-inserting the power lead solved it but it could be the
first signs of your PSU failing.

Try doing a Repair Installation of XP. You will need the XP setup CD
in order to accomplish this. Insert the CD, and boot from it.

prolly had to sling burgers in your past and now want to take out you
