IRQ conflict:Intel SMbus Controller and Audiophile 2496 sound card?

HI, I found out my IRQ 10 is being shared by the IntelSM bus controller
and my M-audio Delta Audiophile 2496 sound card. Is this all right? I
am getting a lot of stuttering recently while trying to record my new
CD and lately can't record much due to the sort of wierd noises that
accompany this stuttering. Some times it doesn't do it, but when I go
to record now, it does.

I have followed all the procedure on the optimize WinXP pages for a
DAW. In fact, they didn't seem to do much at all. Do I have to move
this sound card to a different PCI slot or can I force the controller
to another one? I am having some fits about all this, so will not make
a move until I hear from a more knowledgeable source with some

Move it to a different slot to change the PCI IRQ. The "software" IRQ
(10) is immaterial, unless the vendor provided drivers are reeally badly
written.
