I recently upgraded to Win XP Professional from Win XP
Home. When restarting, the following error message pops
up -

irprops.cpl
Cannot find....

I located the file in the WINDOWS/I386/DRIVER.CAB but
don't know why the SO can't find the file on startup.

Please help??

Thank you -

Does your system support infrared? If no, you can safely ignore it. If
"yes, and you don't use it" - chances are good the message can be still be
ignored.

If yes and you do have infrared devices, check for updated drivers for the
updated infrared devices and/or BIOS updates that relate to support for
devices of this type.

On my system, even though no infrared devices were used and the feature was
disabled in BIOS, I would see that same message in event viewer. Its
presence never caused any problems in the system's performance but it was
bothersome to see the same error at every startup. When I updated the BIOS
recently, I noticed that the error had dropped out of the picture. Can only
assume that the disappearance was due to the BIOS update tweakup in the
infrared setup the right way.

If you do not have any wireless network devices in use on the local system,
disable Wireless Zero Configuration in Services

Wes -

Don't have any wireless network devices on local system
nor do I have the option to disable any Wireless Zero
Configurations (WZC). I went to the Network Connections
menu and looked to see if this property is enabled under
any of my connections (dial-up & LAN/High-Speed) and it's
not.

I must be looking in the wrong place??

Also, the IRPROPS.CPL file is located in both the
WINDOWS/system32/dllcache and WINDOWS/I386/DRIVER.CAB
folders.

Thanks for the quick response -
CB

Wireless Zero Configuration is in Services.

Start | Run | Type: services.msc | OK | Scroll down to
and double click: Wireless Zero Configuration | On the
General tab | under Startup type: | Click the V | Select:
Disabled | Apply | OK | Close Services

I disabled the WZC as directed and the following error message popped up on startup -

Error in irprops.cpl
Missing entry:BluetoothAuthenticationAgent

Don't know if this has anything to do with the error message but the only device that I have that is capable of wireless is my PDA. I don't have wireless service but it is occassionally hooked up my PC during Hot Sync operations.

Thanks again -
CB

How is your PDA connected to your PC?
Do you have a Bluetooth adapter?
=================

Wireless Zero Configuration
[[Provides automatic configuration for the 802.11 adapters]]

Either you use this adapter(s) or you don't.

The Registry key above ^ is trying to start the
BluetoothAuthenticationAgent when you boot your machine.

If you need this, we have to try to fix it.
If you don't, we can delete the start reference.

You need to let us know which.

I don't use the adapter - never have. PDA is hooked up to PC via USB
cable and the only thing I do is perform the Hot Sync operation.

I found a Bluetooth subdirectory in Program Files\Windows NT. Have no
need for NT.

Happy Friday -
