Ipsec VPN

Am trying to setup ipsec and vpn tunnel. The client is an XP machine and the server is a Windows 2003 server not using AD. We keep gettin different certificate errors. I'm wondering if there is a good step by step guide to setting up ipsec vpn tunneling.

What is the error you are getting?

The certificate.pfx must be installed in personal store and certificate.cer
in trusted root CA. If we put certificate.cer in both places, it fails with
the error 786. Can you check the certificates installed?

we are getting a 786 error..no valid machine certificate available on your

computer for security authentication. On the server side we are getting
event id 547 with varrying msgs about ike failures, and no responses from
peers.
