Ipconfig

When I type ipconfig in start>run, a screen flashes for a second and is
gone. Am I typing this wrong?

You're typing it correctly but in the wrong place.
Go to Start\Run and type "cmd"
In the new window type "ipconfig"

You need to use the ipconfig command from a Command Prompt.

Start | Run | Type: cmd | Click OK |

This will display help for ipconfig, type:

ipconfig /?

Hit your Enter key.

No, that is expected behavior. The command runs and then exits.
To run Ipconfig and see the results use a Cmd or Command in
the run box and then do the Ipconfig from inside the window.
When finished, type Exit or click X to close the command window.

I noticed that if I type "C:\Program Files\Resource Kit\WNTIPCFG.EXE" at the Run
prompt, one gets the IP Configuration window that looks very similar to what we
used to get in Win98's IP window.

Hi R. McCarty,
This is interesting. Suppose all of us using the same brand Router and everybody typed Ipconfig after Cmd on Run and everybody
will get the same IP Address because that is our default IP Address of our Routers. How can we get our real IP Address?

Rino, you should switch to plain-text mode for this newsgroup. Some

Access the Admin screen for your router, typically http://192.168.2.1 or
some such, then look under Status, check the documentation.

Inside the Router is the LAN (Local Area Network), such as
192.168.x.x-254. To see your WAN (Wide Area Network)
or true Internet IP assigned by your ISP, use IE and go to the
following website: http://www.whatismyip.com
or login to your Modem/Router's web-interface to check the
WAN Address.

Hello Lee,
OK just to make you happy ;o)
Look what's the different it is?
And I know almost everybody this day are using color monitor or LCD and all capable of opening Rich Text and if you say you cannot
then I believed you.

We must advance to the future and never look back --- if we look back we'll never advance. Just hoping you know all those things
which we never use are gone into history --- 1 example; Watch out for your parallel port because we never use the motherboard
manufacturers decided to junk it forever. You'll have the chance this time to see it happening as many already gone.

Look what Apple Company did or has in their Mac and surely PC Windows will follow if only those software and hardware manufacturers
will agreed --- as they says; "Too many cooks will spoil the soup."

Cheers!
