I have a persistant problem that crops up every few hours. After being
connected to the internet for a while - might be 2 hours, might be 6, I find
that I can no longer access websites, or even download my mail or connect to
my ISP's ftp site. I get error messages like... "Unable to establish a
connection to socket: No buffer space is available. The socket cannot be
created/connected." Internet Explorer gives the error "Cannot find server or
DNS Error".

I was rebooting to solve this, but on a tip started using ipconfig with the
switch /flushdns. This fixes the problem, for another few hours.

I have no idea if this has anything to do with it, but running ipconfig
/displaydns shows around 24 sites with names like "clickfast.biz" and
"vivisexy.com" (I have held off clouting the son until I know for sure he's
been using my computer:)

I would really love a permanent solution for this problem... Any
suggestions?

Hi:

I bet that some people here will give you a better in deep technical
explanation for this. But I suggest to first getr a good antivirus software
or upgrade yours. Then make a full scan of your machine.

As a second step I sugest you to downoad defender from Ms and make a full
scan of your machine. Here I let you the URL:

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

In my IMHO, there is a spyware or malware that cause this problem.

Let us know if you can fix that.

I use Zone Alarm which is set to scan daily (and is 100% up to date). I also
have XoftSpy and SpyBot S&D but I downloaded Defender and ran a full scan
anyway. It didn't find anything.

I have had this problem for some weeks now and it's getting really "old".

BTW, the trick of flushing the dns doesn't work anymore, since I downloaded
Defender:)
