Hi. Does anyone know the reason why this error message appears while the
ipconfig command is typed in DOS?

Windows IP Configuration

An internal error occurred: A device attached to the system is not
functioning.

Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services for further help.

Additional information: Unknown media status code.

Regards,

Nicholas

Type this line at a command prompt, then reboot and see if the problem
is fixed:

netsh winsock reset catalog

If that doesn't fix it, try un-installing and re-installing the
network adapters in Device Manager.

BTW, there's actually no DOS in Windows XP. The command prompt window
is part of XP itself.
