This is probably something basic.

I was playing around with my wireless network and IBM thinkpad T43P
(changing the SSID etc). After a while all the networking commands at the
command prompt stopped showing any information. This includes ipconfig,
browstat, arp etc. What did I do wrong ?

You have probably changed a config setting and now some parts of the network
doesn't recognise other parts. Put everything back exactly as it was and see
if it works. Go through all the settings and make sure they are all correct.

Actually the network is working fine (I can use the network, access the
internet via the new SSIDs on the laptop and wireless router).

The only config change (at least as far as I know) is adding the new SSID
which I want for security anyway.

The only apparent change is that these commands are not printing out any
information now else everything is fine.

Any ideas ?

Are you saying your network works? If so I misunderstood what you were
saying. I would start by putting the ssid back how it was. Then check the
commands you say aren't working. Once you get it all working change only the
ssid and see what happens. A ssid change would only stop your network
working if it wasn't set up right. As far I know if the ssid is the same on
all parts of the network there shouldn't be a problem. Are you sure that was
the only thing you changed.

What does ipconfig give you. Copy & paste the info so I or anyone else can
see what is going on.

Interestingly the problem has now gone away pretty much on its own and arp,
ipconfig etc are showing the normal expected outputs now. I am still running
the same configuration (new SSIDs etc) as when the problem was happening.

This was really wierd since there were no other symptoms other than lack of
output from commands like arp and ipconfig. There was nothing to cut and
paste since the command line prompt would immediately return without
printing any information.

If it happens again I will post an update.
