IPA diacritics

I can find the basic IPA symbols in Microsoft Word, but am unable to
add diacritics (such as the symbol to indicate a nasalised vowel) to
these symbols. Is this possible?

Rachel, you might also want to look for a font specifically intended for IPA
text; see http://www.sil.org/computing/fonts/Encore-ipa.html
