Running MS Backup from an XP Pro machine through 100mb Ethernet network to a
mapped hard drive on a win 98Se machine. The backup stops with the above
error at about the 4.3gb mark. MS has in the past confirmed this as an XP
problem and suggests that XP2 shuld eliminate it, I already have XP2
installed. The workaround suggested was already in effect.Has anyone have any
better ideas?

Is the backup going to a single archive file file?

The hard drive on the Win98SE box will be FAT32.
You have probably hit the 4GB filesize limit on the fat32 volume.

A FAT32 disk is not going to be much good in this case.

You need to either:
Split the backup into multiple files, or..
Use a different OS on the archive server which supports a
filesystem like NTFS with a bigger filesize limit.
