Invisible Design Templates in PPT 2002

For spome reason the Design Templates will not display properly most of the
time in the Slide Design window. Color Schemes and Animation Schemes display
properly. When I click in the window (which is initially blank) the slide
will change properly but I see only an empty box but the title of the layout
will show (e.g. Title slide). When I click in different areas of the window
blue blocks will form.

This is not a showstopper but I would like to have it work properly if
possible. I am using XP SP2 with updates. I ran the Office CD to fix it
several times but it never helped.

A suggestion on how to fix this would be welcome.
