I have put a movie clip in my power point presenation and I would like to
introduce text whilst it is playing to demonstrate what is happening. Can I
insert texboxes to explain what the user is seeing at certain times whilst
the movie is playing?

Unfortunately not. Movies always play on top of everything else.

You can insert text boxes, however, you may want to do it off to the side.
The movie will always appear "on top" on everything else in PowerPoint.

What you can do is leave a strip at the bottom (say) of the screen below the
movie clip and put the text in there.
