Internet slow with remote VPN connection

news.microsoft.com

I have a Small Business Server 2003 set up to accept incoming PPTP requests
using RRAS. When a client connects remotely with his notebook on a
broadband connection, his local Internet browsing drops to a 'crawl' speed
because the local Internet browsing is getting routed through the VPN
connection.

I had the client check the bindings and provider order placing his LAN
connection first and Microsoft Windows Network at the top. Is there
anything I am overlooking?

Thanks

A split tunnel for vpn pptp connection will allow
local browser access but is potentially a security
risk unless a firewall product is installed locally.
Usually split tunnel is allowed or disallowed
from the vpn server pptp clients properties
in the real world, not sure if rras03 allows
this without some sort of registry tweak or
even at all.

Found a checkbox in the connection properties for the VPN connection to "not
use the remote's default gateway"
Thanks
