In any case - a *true* shortcut is just that - a shortcut. You should be
able to create a shortcut to do whatever you want and make it's icon just
about anything you want.
However - it's not perfectly clear what it is you are hoping to accomplish -
so feel free to elaborate.

I believe the original poster is asking if one can change the favicon (coded
in HTML as "shortcut icon" ex: <link rel="shortcut icon"
href="../favicon.ico"/> to something other than what the author coded into
the website. At least that's what I get from this question. That being the
case I'd say I'm not aware of a way to change the displayed favicon because
the browser picks it up with the rest of the HTML images and coding. I'd be
interested in hearing from anyone if there is a way to intercept the favicon
and display a different one.
