Internet sharing problems please help

B

Brad Clark

I have a hp pavilion a450n desktop connected to a belkin 54g wireless
router. A compaq Presario 2500 laptop connected to the router. I can
share files between both computers. I have the desktop set up as a
host with internet sharing enabled. The laptop cannot access the
internet with the desktop connected. Before I bought the router I had
the desktop and the laptop connected with a crossover cable and I had
no problems. Any tips would be nice.

Thanks Brad

Since you have a wireless router, why have you set up the desktop as a
host with Internet sharing enabled? The wireless router can share a
cable modem or DSL connection with both computers. What type of
Internet connection do you have?

Brad, have you been that router at all? I would use the router's config. I
would disable the internet sharing. Chances are they are both the router and
your desktop is trying to tell your laptop how to get on the internet. (DHCP
running in two places.)
