Under the subject heading I found the following website..https://0.0.0.0(no
dot com)
I dare not go there to find out what it is because it is unfamiliar to me.
When I try to delete it, I can't, my system won't let me. I hear the sound
you get when you double click wrong to open a file etc. The only thing I
have done so far is to blocked it under the Privacy setting.

Update sites for Windows and Microsoft are the only ones I listed there.
How can I get rid of this site that is not known to me? It first appeared
when I reinstalled my ISP software after installing a fresh copy of Windows.

Also, in an unrelated matter, a pop up window shows occasionally (User Mode
Contrast) that blocks the center screen for a few seconds. I have updated my
graphics and video drivers that are compatible with my Windows XP Home
Edition(Dell Dimension 2400).

Start by making sure the computer is virus/malware-free so you know you're
working from a clean base. Don't skip the preparatory steps.

Thanks so very much for your response. I learned a lot just reading that page.

I followed all your instructions to begin this process. There was a problem
with downloading 'Malwarebytes Anti-Malware'. The link took me to CNET and it
would not download. A constant clicking sound, browser stopped responding and
I had to close out the page with 'End Program'. All the other downloads went
fine.

I want to do it step by step(this is step 3), so I did not want to begin
without a Malware Scanner. Any suggestions or what might be the problem?

Should I just go with what I have or will you suggest another Malware Scanner?

Also I would strongly advise that you upgrdse the amount of RAM in your
computer to at least an additional 512MB. RAM is very cheap these days. It
will take forever to scan your computer or do anything with 128 MB of RAM.
You can go to http://www.crucial/com to find what RAM your computer has
installed and what it can upgrade to. Also boot your computer into Safe Mode
with networking to see if you can then download and install the Malwarebytes
program after first deleting your Internet Explorer temp files. Malke gives
excellent advise - just wanted to add my 2 cents here untile she gets back
to you.

My mistake. http://www.crucial.com for the RAM upgrade though of course you
will need to have someone install it for you if you are not comfortable with
that. Most people have a friend or family member that can do that for them.

I am the eldest of 12 adult sibs, have several dozen adult in-laws,
nieces, nephews ...and a bunch of friends with computers.

NONE of them can do that or even have the gonads to try.

You can download MBAM from www.malwarebytes.org using a different computer.
Put the install file on a USB thumb drive to bring it to the target machine.
Another good antispyware program is SuperAntiSpyware
(www.superantispyware.com). The free version is fine. Inability to download
an antimalware scanner is a symptom of an infected machine. Of course we
don't *know* your machine is infected, but we need to find out.

People whom I respect in the antimalware field suggest updating and running
MBAM in Regular Mode first using the quick scan and then again in Safe Mode
with the thorough scan if needed. I need to update my website with this
information.

Sometimes you need to rename an antispyware installer if your computer is
really infected. For instance, instead of mbam-setup.exe you might rename it
abc.exe.

As the others have said, you really don't have enough RAM for a nice XP
experience. I also buy RAM from Crucial. But let's get your machine working
properly first.

I downloaded the MBAM from Majorgeeks' webite...had same previous problem on
the MABM website.
I did the process step by step. Rebooted and went directly to Internet
Security Trusted Sites. The 'https://0.0.0.0' site that I was unfamiliar with
nor added there could finally be deleted. Not sure what it was but am glad
it is gone.

me..they just didn't know how to rid my system of this problem.(smile)
