Internet/programs stop running after a few hours

Hello,

after a couple of hours of my computer being logged on and running,
programs stop being able to start and the Internet just stops. At first with
the Internet I thought it was just Internet Explorer, but it's the same with
Netscape and AOL Explorer. It's consistant, too. I've run virus and spyware
scans, and nothing comes up that will be the cause of it. It's like my
computer just stops working entirely. The only way I could make everything
run again is by restarting my computer, then after a couple of hours, I do
the same thing. I don't know what the cause or solution to the problem is.
Please help.

Try opening event viewer and get specific details as to whats failing. After
a few hours,heat might be a problem-case heat,hd,video card,etc...Memory
use would also be maxed out if not enough is installed...

When you say that "everything" stops working does this apply to programs that do not use the internet connection?

If this is simply the internet connection stopping, it could be a restriction implemented by your ISP. Check with them.

Only the Internet stops working, but why do programs that don't use the
Internet stop being able to start?

Anna, what exactly stops working? Can you open a notepad session?
(Start->Run->Notepad).
