internet problem

the problem i have is that certain advertising and certain
sites will not work on my interenet. i do not have any
pop up stoppers installed. is there a virus out there that
can cause this if so how can i find it and destroy it. i
am running mcafee 7.0 pro, and it is not finding anything.
i think i have what they call a piggy back. if anybody
has any info on this it would be greatly appreciated. i
am running win 2000 pro

There are a couple of free spyware removal programs that work quite well. One is Ad-Aware.
There's a free and Pro(paid) version if it. Sorry, but I can't
remember the name of the other - but it was an editor's choice in
PCMag last year. It also was free. Do a Google search and you should
find where to download both. Frequently, just uninstalling the
program you loaded in won't get rid of the "Spy" stuff that was loaded
in along with it.
