I'm sure that some combination of Microsoft, the FBI, and perhaps
other law enforcement agencies, are. How successful they will be,
or can be, is another matter and remains to be seen.

I just heard on the radio news yesterday, another teen is
looking at a long prison term for releasing a worm.

Internet worms may be the toilet paper for the geek teen.

For people who don't know about California teen life, having
your trees and property TPd with dozens or hundreds of rolls
of TP thrown over shows popularity or something.

We all know that the internet belongs to nobody, but is ANYBODY making any
effort whatsoever to track down the source of these virus e-mails? Nothing
would make me happier than to see these people on the news wearing orange
jump suits with their hands handcuffed behind their backs and having a law
enforcement official pushing their head down as they get into the back of a
police vehicle. :-)

there was another arrest of blaster worm guy this weekend.
ebay is active in finding the ebay spoof emails.
maybe a huge reward from companies needs to be offered.
someone knows who is doing these.

of course most is coming in from overseas russia norway.
this could be the new terrorist thing since sept11-2001.
sure looks like terror from us users.

Hi Paul:

I'm all for nabbing the jerks too. Unfortunately the internet is world wide
in scope and not limited to just one country, some of which have very few
laws to fight it. So our best way to cope is defensively.

Regards.

You beat me to it. Try Saudi Arabia, Iran, Bin Laden. There is just too
much going on here for it to be strictly a teenage prank. Only a genius or,
more likely, several people in collusion could create a worm that reads
email addresses, then sends mail from a fake source with the means to spread
itself, no less. This should be posted as an original, not a thread; maybe
then people will start taking action needed, like finding out who is REALLY
doing this. The ISP's have the information but privacy laws protect the
perpetrators, domestic or foreign.

What BS! The FBI can get whatever info they need from the ISPs with a
simple warrant. And warrants are a lot easier to get now-a-days.

LOOK BEHIND YOU!

Sorry, I though I saw Osama standing behind you! ROFL!

fbi.. pmsl..

need I remind you there is an entire world.. outside of the usa.

Don't look for the source ONLY at the places you mentioned. This is no
orchestrated attack, just random pot shots from all over.

Correct dipshit, and most of the rest of the worlds ISP's cooperate with the
FBI's requests and vice versa.

Saddam Hussein and Ben Ladin are also two good examples of people who
cooperated with America in the past!!!

Maybe we should stay off politics in a group like this where opinions are
going to vary widely and lead to heated arguments???

Really?

Ever hear of the CIA & the NSA? Ever hear of Interpol? Why do we need
any more of these type of agencies just for the internet?

That's right! The US & the West funded both of them in the past, when
it suited "our" purpose.

Maybe "you" should just stay of of the kitchen, if "you" can't take the
heat.

Most does not equate to ALL, Genius. I can think of a few Countries
that won't co-operate with the FBI on this, including one we just hada
war with. Please wait for Kurttail to provide you with the guidence you
obviouly need before responding. Though I disagree with him, at least has
a brain that works.

So how are the "Internet Police" gonna be any more effective than all
the law enforcement agencies that already exist?

Maybe we need to create any "Internet Army" to take over any country
that doesn't co-operate with existing law enforcement agencies.

You realize "they" are reading these posts and laughing their heads off,
figuring they have us on the run. Do they ? This infighting and name
calling only perpetuates their agenda. We need some unity around here.
Otherwise, it will be kissing computers and computing goodbye as we now know
them.

Who did I call anything?

And what paranoid delusion are you suffering from? A lot more people
get hurt in the shower than by any & all internet crime. Do we need the
"shower police" too?

And a lot of people still living remember the "Good Ole Days" when there
were no computers, as we know them today. If computers all disappeared
in a flash, there will still be a lot of people that would be out
dancing in the streets.

I'd be more worried about the idiot driving next to me on the road than
about the punks that write computer viruses.
