internet options

hello all...my problem is this.in the tools drop down menu to internet
options
when i try the erase history button my computor locks up the hour glass
just stays there .i have to control ,alt,delete . to get it to unlock
and it says program not responding . i feel this is a settins issue,
can anybody help ?
this problem just started one weekago. james

Scan your computer for Malware/Grayware from here:
http://www.lavasftusa.com/
http://www.avast.com
To delete your IE History and cookies Try to do it Offline, by doing this:
Double click My Computer and in the Opened Window Right click your Drive and
select Properties and on the Properties window Select Disk CleanUp.
You can get this cleaner from here to delete your History and unwanted
files/folders:

ccleaner is a freeware that makes it easy too...
