Have you run a Spyware scanner? SpyBot Search & Destroy of Lavasoft's Ad-aware?
http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/InternetOptimizer.html

You can deregister the offending DLL files from a DOS prompt if you wish but
that may be beyond your scope.

Try Ad-aware: http://ftp.pcworld.com/pub/new/privacy___security/aaw6181.exe
