internet messed up someway

my problem is when i put a url in and press enter an error
message comes up saying make sure my url or internet path
is clear or correct i checked my url www.yahoo.com which
is correct so is it must be my pathway. i also noticed
that my addrees bar has something like C:\searchpage.html
and when i drop the address bar i get desktop,my computer
31/2 floppy, cdrive then under it has my ie6searchpage
icon, then continues on with my ddrive,edrive and so on
can you help me fix this.
