Am having problems viewing links on some web pages using
Internet Explorer on a computer at work. The computer
was a Windows 98 computer, and had been having this
problem for quite some time. When upgrading to XP Home,
I was hoping the problem would be resolved, but it
hasn't. Do not have problems with other computers in the
office or my home computer. Am stumped. I can view the
properties of the links on my home computer, for example,
and they are GIF files. And don't seem to be having
problems viewing other GIF files on the same computer.
Just on some web pages. The computer is current and up
to date, so is Internet Explorer. Have checked and
double checked and triple checked IE settings, have even
reset to default settings, no change. Am not using any
firewall on the PC. Help!

Why don’t you post the link you are having a problem with. Just righ

In the future dont use an OS upgrade to fix a problem with an older OS.
Your problems will only be compounded exponentially. Fix the old OS
first, then do the upgrade.

When you upgrade windows to XP from Win9X the base OS remain the same so all the settings you have (good or bad) are carried forward, as your data is also carried forward, uninstall windows XP from add or remove programs, get 98 fixed and then upgrade to windows XP, you can also format and reinstall with a upgrade cd with out Qualifing Media.
