I have an XP sp2 with IE7 and just had DSL hooked up. All things worked with
Dialup. Now I can only use ICQ but no IE pages open, nor Messenger use
available.
How can I get it to work? Server says all is well on their end. ICQ does
work.

You may have a horked (dirty; bad; flawed) install of IE7. I suggest that
you..,

1. Uninstall IE7 (which automatically returns you to IE6) per
http://www.ie-vista.com/kbase2.html

2. Uninstall all toolbars and third-party Windows Themes (including Window
Blinds).

3. Reinstall IE7 per http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install,
and using http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/default.mspx as the
installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update.

1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced.
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Click on Connection tab, make sure the correct Default connection selected
not the old Modem one still the default (did you uninstall the Modem
Software/Driver?) then click LAN settings and make sure no Proxy settings
check box is selected.

Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.

2... And also for malware from here:
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
http://www.safer-networking.org ; for Spybot S&D

Then Try this:
Open a Run Command and type in these DLL to reregister and see if that will
help:
netsh winsock reset

You may have winsock corrupt or damaged so download this winsock fixer:
http://www.nasstec.co.uk/tools.html
Double click it to run it and Reboot your machine and see if you will be
able to access the Internet.
What Version of the ICQ you got?.
HTH.
Let us know.
