I am running Windows XP SP2. I am having a problem with my Internet Explore
page loading. I can access the Internet within My Computer address bar with
know problems.

Here is what I have done thus far for troubleshooting.
-Attempted to uninstall via the Add/Remove program but, it is not list, so
launced the add new components and it removed it and the icon, but when I
attempted to reinstall the IE I got this message "Locate the appropriate
registry subkey, right-click the IsInstalled (REG_DWORD) value, and then
click Modify.

To reinstall only the Internet Explorer 6 browser component on Windows XP,
use the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed
Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}

So then, I found this information via the Microsoft Knowledgebase to do the
following: Locate the appropriate registry subkey, right-click the
IsInstalled (REG_DWORD) value, and then click Modify.

To reinstall only the Internet Explorer 6 browser component on Windows XP,
use the following registry key:

I shut down the computer and attempted to reinstall the information and
still experience the same problem, that a newer version was already installed.

Then I attempted to do a system restore 3 times for the month of March,
Ferbruary and January and all fail.

How do you advise?

Thanks,

Gregory

I have had success with booting off your XP CD like you are doing a clean
install. Do not choose "Repair" or "Repair Console" when initially prompted
but proceed like you are going to do a fresh install of XP. When XP detects
that there is already a copy of windows installed you will have an option to
repair this installation. You will want to select this option which will
reinstall any missing and potentially corrupt components lof Windows and IE
leaving all other applications and settings intact. I have fixed a half dozon
of machines this way. Let me know how it goes.
