is there a way in gp to disable internet explorer or do i
have to go to "not run specified programs" and put in
iexplore.exe? thanks

Hello, there is no option to prevent users from use internet explorer. there
is a option to hide internet explorer and remove it from the desktop and
quiclunce
Hide Internet Explorer icon on desktop and Quick Launch bar on the taskbar.
User Configuration\AdministrativeTemplates\Desktop

Removes the Internet Explorer icon from the desktop and from the Quick
Launch bar on the taskbar.

This policy does not prevent the user from starting Internet Explorer by
using other methods.

But to prevent users from run the application you have to do as you say.
