Internet Explorer slow and lagging when entering data in boxes

On a number of web site Explorer becomes very delayed when
scrolling and entering data in search or data boxes.

Problems: Google/Yahoo/MSN redirections. Massive IE slowdown, especially
when typing text into forms.
Redirected any URLs starting without 'http://' or 'www'.
